Welcome to the TLC blog
Hello and welcome. We’re thrilled to launch The Lending Cupboard’s very first blog post — a new way for us to connect with you, share stories and celebrate the incredible community that makes our work possible.
Whether you’re a long-time supporter or just discovering us, we’re glad you’re here.
Who We Are
The Lending Cupboard® is a non-profit organization based in Red Deer, Alberta, dedicated to lending medical equipment to individuals in need — free of charge. From walkers and wheelchairs to crutches and bathroom aids, we provide essential items that help Central Albertans recover, stay mobile and live with dignity.
We serve thousands of clients each year - from children to seniors - supporting recovery, independence and quality of life. Whether someone is healing from surgery, managing a chronic condition or caring for a loved one, we’re here to help.
Why We Exist
Our story began with a simple but powerful idea: if you need it and we’ve got it, you can borrow it. Everyone deserves access to the medical equipment they need, regardless of financial circumstances. What started as a small initiative in a warehouse near the Red Deer Hospital has now grown into a vital community resource, thanks to the generosity of donors, volunteers and community partners.
We’ve seen firsthand how a walker can restore confidence, how a patient lift can ease caregiving, and how a wheelchair can open up the world. These aren’t just pieces of equipment — they’re tools for healing, hope and independence.
