Empowering Our Community on National Nonprofit Day and Beyond
On August 17th, communities everywhere paused to celebrate National Nonprofit Day, a time dedicated to recognizing the organizations, volunteers, and donors who quietly power our neighborhoods behind the scenes. Here at The Lending Cupboard®, this day is a meaningful reminder of why we do what we do: ensuring that every individual in Central Alberta has access to essential medical equipment during times of injury, illness, or recovery.
Whether it’s helping a neighbor recover safely at home after surgery, providing mobility devices that give a loved one back their freedom, or reducing financial barriers for families navigating health challenges, our mission is simple: we strive to enhance mobility, independence and dignity.
Honored by the Community We Serve
Everything we accomplish is made possible by our dedicated team, incredible volunteers, generous donors, and the trust of our neighbors. Recently, that trust came back to us in two deeply humbling ways:
· Red Deer 2026 Community Votes – Gold Award: We are thrilled and grateful to announce that we received the Gold Award for the Home Medical Equipment Category! Knowing that our community voted directly to recognize our work makes this milestone extraordinarily special.
· Red Deer District Chamber Nomination: We are also immensely honored to be nominated for Business of the Year 2026 in the NonProfit Organization category by the Red Deer & District Chamber. The official awards ceremony takes place on October 21, and we couldn't be more excited to stand alongside so many inspiring local organizations.
These recognitions belong to all of us. Every donated piece of equipment, every hour pledged by our volunteers, and every vote of confidence from our community reinforces our pledge to serve Red Deer and the surrounding region with care and compassion.
