A Reflection on 20 Years of Caring and Community

This year, The Lending Cupboard® is celebrating an incredible milestone: 20 years of serving our communities.

What began over two decades ago with a simple but powerful vision, that no one should have to face a health challenge without access to the equipment they need, has grown into an organization that now serves more than 20,000 clients and processes over 40,000 pieces of medical equipment and daily living aids annually.

As I reflect on this journey, I am filled with gratitude. Gratitude for the people who had the vision and courage to start The Lending Cupboard® 20 years ago. Gratitude for every staff member, volunteer, donor, board member, and community partner who has helped build and strengthen this organization along the way.

The People Behind the Mission

Today, we are supported by a dedicated team of more than 10 full- and part-time staff members and an amazing volunteer family of over 120 individuals who provide compassionate, caring service each and every day.

Together, they ensure that those facing illness, injury, surgery, aging, or caregiving responsibilities receive the support they need with dignity, kindness, and respect.

Introducing Our Theme: Hearts in Motion

As we begin celebrating this special anniversary year, we are proud to introduce our 20th Anniversary theme: Hearts in Motion.

It is a theme that beautifully reflects who we are and the impact we strive to make every day. At The Lending Cupboard®, we help keep hearts in motion by providing the equipment and support that allow people to heal, remain independent, stay connected with loved ones, and continue participating in the activities and moments that matter most.

It also speaks to the incredible hearts behind our mission, including our volunteers, staff, donors, and supporters, whose compassion keeps our organization moving forward and changing lives.

Looking Ahead to the Next 20 Years

While we are proud of what has been accomplished over the past 20 years, we are equally excited about what lies ahead. Our goal is not only to celebrate our history but to continue building a strong and sustainable future so that The Lending Cupboard® can be here for the next 20 years and beyond.

As part of our anniversary celebrations, we will be hosting a 20th Anniversary Gala on February 13, 2027. We hope you will join us as we recognize the many people who have been part of this remarkable journey and celebrate the impact we have made together.
